Our Work
We are dedicated to raising awareness for the Syrian cause through creative public campaigning and advocacy efforts.
By leveraging different platforms and channels we amplify the voices of Syrians, inspire solidarity in support of their struggle for dignity, and ensure that their demands are heard by policymakers and the international community.
Awareness + Advocacy
Stop Bombing Hospitals
Attacks on healthcare is a key theme of work for AFS. “STOP BOMBING HOSPITALS,” was our first call to action, since the moment For Sama was shared with the world.
Through compelling storytelling and advocacy efforts, we mobilise support for medical workers on the ground under constant danger and call for accountability for the war crimes committed against them. Our aim is to ensure attacks on healthcare do not go unnoticed, forgotten, nor unpunished.
For Sama has been shown in over 140 countries and the screening requests continue to flood in.
We facilitate screenings of For Sama all over the world, followed by post-screening discussions featuring Waad, Hamza and the wider team to delve even deeper into the stories and themes brought forth by the documentary.

Displacement Exhibition
In December 2016, the people of East Aleppo were confronted with an impossible choice: leave or die. The forced mass displacement that followed uprooted the lives of thousands, including those of Action for Sama’s co-founders.
Any belongings that managed to be saved by survivors and carried into their exile, shed a deeper light onto the human lives affected by the war crimes.
We have gathered some of these objects and memories to share with the public.
